Who Are We?
The Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM) is a student led organization. More specifically, we are on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University, although you can find many BCM's within the state of Kentucky as well as around the United States. We are a non-profit organization supported by alumni, local churches, as well as the Kentucky Baptist Convention (KBC). As a group of students, we practice a non-denominational attitude toward students and worship. We do not look at a person's background, claimed denomination, financial status, appearance, or anything else that may place one individual above another. Instead, we meet people were they are, as Jesus Christ did, and show them the love that Christ presented to the world to the best of our human abilities.
Where Are We?
We are located at the corner of Kit Carson Avenue (Also known as Roy and Sue Kid Way), and University Drive. More simply put, we are down the hill from Walters Hall, on the corner.
What Are We About? What is Our Purpose?
As said before, we meet people were they are, as Jesus Christ did, and show them the love that Christ presented to the world to the best of our human abilities. Our goal is to help every person we come in contact with, create, and deepen a relationship with Christ. We understand that we are saved from condemnation by faith in Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross, not by works (Romans 1:17, 2 Corinthians 5:7, Galatians 2:16, Ephesians 2:8, James 2:24, Hebrews Ch. 11, ... the list goes on). We believe Jesus Christ was/is the Son of God, died on the cross 2000 years ago, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where he sits at the right-hand of the Throne of God. It is this common belief that brings us together in an effort to reach our campus, our city, our country, and our world with the love of Christ.
Who Were We?
It does not surprise us that many people are not familiar with the name "Baptist Campus Ministries" or "BCM". Much of this unfamiliarity is the result of our recent name change performed by the Kentucky Baptist Convention in 2006. Prior to this name change, we were known as the "Baptist Student Union" or "BSU". Although our name has changed, we are still the same organization. Our name change was an effort to unify with the rest of the BSU's across the nation to a more modern title.

Now feel free to look around the website, and come on down and visit us. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Our Interns this year are Kyle Mulcahy, Dee Brosey, Daniel Freeman, and Heidi Freeman. Our Campus Minister is Jon Barron. Oh, if you come down on a Tuesday or Thursday and find the sweetest woman in the world answering phones - this is our famous Syble. Any one of these people will be able to answer any questions you may have. All you have to do is ask.
